IN SITU and dienacht Publishing partnered in 2020, with the support of the Goethe-Centre Yerevan, for a series of online mentorship opportunities for photographers working and living in Armenia. dienacht Publishing is a Leipzig based photobook publisher and magazine, with extensive experience in leading workshops on how to make photobooks as well as on curating photo and photobook-based exhibitions. HAYP and dienacht co-designed three virtual collaborations to provide Armenian photographers with expert, industry consultancies, while also introducing dienacht to Armenia’s photography scene.

In this webinar, audiences will learn about dienacht Publishing & Magazine, dienacht Lab education programs, and the art of photobooks. Following the presentation there will be a Q&A session with the audience. Questions are particularly encouraged by artists interested in applying to the dienacht-IN SITU Online Masterclass, “Editing & Sequencing for Photographers” (January 2021).

Calin studied Graphic-Design and is the founder and maker of the photo magazine “dienacht” and of “dienacht Publishing” Calin is a photographer, curator, lecturer, and leads workshops (Vienna, Berlin, Lagos, Georgetown, Istanbul, Moscow, Mexico City, Rangoon, Copenhagen, Barcelona, …) on photobook design and portfolio reviews. “dienacht” and “dienacht Publishing” have received several awards for its publications: Best German Photobook Awards, Best Books of the Year, Shortlist at the Paris Photo – Aperture Award, and a range of LeadAwards.

Yana studied Philology and has 5 years of experience as photography curator at Lumiere
Brothers Center for Photography in Moscow. During this time, she curated over 15 exhibitions
and edited several photobooks. She works as “dienacht” editor since 2018.
Anna Gargarian, founder & curator at IN SITU art agency (www.haypinsitu.com)
Anna has been working as an independent contemporary art curator for the past decade on projects in Florence, Venice, Zurich, Beijing, Yerevan, Gyumri, and Copenhagen. In 2014, she
co-founded HAYP Pop Up Gallery, a nomadic art space engaged in public art in Armenia. From 2016 – 2019 she worked at AGBU Armenia as Creative Projects Officer, where she specialized in the Creative and Cultural Industries and curated over twelve exhibitions. In 2018, she launched IN SITU art agency, a sister project to HAYP with the mission of connecting Armenian artists, critics, curators and thought-makers to global markets and platforms.
